Bill grew up in a little house surrounded by open countryside in Moggerhanger, Bedfordshire.
The Spinney next door & the open fields surrounding their cottage, were the playground for him & his little sister Sue, where they spent most of their childhoods outside, from dawn until dusk, playing.
Their days were spent together on long bike rides, building dens in trees, playing ball games such as tennis and cricket and playing hide and seek amongst the outbuildings and greenhouses.
There was even an occasion where they used one of their dads old tin baths to try & paddle across a pond full of very mucky water, which ended up sinking and leaving them rather smelly!
They would camp in a little white tent and often try to cook their own meals, only baked potatoes on an open fire took hours, which they didn’t have time for!
There was once an occasion where their bonfire spread and the pair of them accidentally set fire to their dads workshop in their back garden.
On behalf of Sue, Bill’s sister.
